The Story of Bonjo
The story of Bonjo begins in Italy, where our founder Joe would find himself being led home from school by the smell of his grandmother roasting coffee. After immigrating to the U.S., driven by the passion and nostalgia left in him by his past, he found a job working in the coffee industry servicing espresso coffee machines in a time when espresso and cappuccino were only known by few.
Roasting coffee was in his memory, heart, and mind. He wanted to create a true Italian espresso coffee roasted here in the USA, he returned to Italy to learn from an old Master Roaster on authentic techniques. Once back in the U.S., Bonjo was born with a mission to evoke the same legacy Joe shared with his grandmother and to accomplish his dream.
To this day, Bonjo is driven by the same approach that our founder spent years hunting and perfecting. We craft each cup authentically: by slow-roasting specialty coffees from across the world in our Italian Balestra roaster to accentuate the unique flavors of each blend, creating a depth and complexity coveted by many.
